Avid Rock Concert Poster Collector Announces His Search
For Original 1950s Buddy Holly Concert Posters

Thursday, August 4, 2011

Andrew Hawley, from Vintage Rock Posters, announces his plans to search for Buddy Holly concert
posters. He is particularly interested in posters from the Winter Dance Party tour. According to Hawley,
"This tour included Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly and J.P. Richardson (the Big Bopper). This tour was
ambitions since it covered twenty-four cities in three weeks in the winter of 1959. Each musician was
famous at the time. Ritchie Valens' top hit was "La Bamba". The Big Bopper was know for "Chantilly
Lace". Buddy Holly and the Crickets were famous for "Peggy Sue" and "That Will Be the Day". Together
the three had sold over 10 million records and were very popular in 1959. This tour ended when the
plane carrying Holly, Valens, and Richardson crashed in an Iowa farm field. All were killed. This winter
day was later called the "The Day the Music Died" by Don McLean in his hit song "America Pie"."

Hawley has had luck finding Buddy Holly concert posters. Hawley states "These posters stay in the hands
of people who attended a Winter Dance Party and kept them over 50 years." The poster on the left is for
the Les Buzz Winter Dance Party in Springfield, Illinois. This concert was cancelled because of the tragic
plane crash. Hawley continues, "This is a rare and historic poster of a concert that did not happen. This
poster was hanging in a local record store in Springfield. I purchased it from the store owner who told
me that even after he got wind of the crash he decided to leave the poster in the window so that fans
and music enthusiasts could mourn the death of these three rock legends."

Hawley will pay $10,000 for original vintage 1950s Buddy Holly concert posters. Any condition is
accepted. Sellers will be paid in cash within 24 hours guaranteed. For more information, go to
