McDONALD, Skeets
Heart Breakin' Mama - Gonna Shake This Shack

This CD contains a rare version of The Southland Boogie! - It also contains You Oughta See Grandma Rock and Heart Breakin' Mama with Eddie Cochran, guitar. - Includes Don't Let The Stars Get In Your Eyes and The Tattooed Lady. - Skeets McDonald was a true hillbilly singer, but he knew the vulgar power of boogie-woogie and the blues, even cutting one legendary rockabilly single in the form of You Oughta See Grandma Rock b/w Heart Breakin' Mama. Both of these rockers are on this collection, along with a boatload more tracks showcasing Skeets' unique brand of uptempo hillbilly, honky-tonk, risque novelties (The Tattooed Lady ranks as the only song cut in the 1940s that is more relevant today than when it was originally released!) and hard-driving West Coast country music. Skeets McDonald was one of the greats, remembered in the history books for his 1952 hit Don't Let The Stars Get In Your Eyes, but with a vast catalog of hidden gems, the best of which we've assembled here for your shack-shaking pleasure. Even if you already have the Bear Family box set, get this one for the never-before reissued killer version of The Southland Boogie, heard here for the first time on CD and worth the price of admission by itself!
